Shopping in Larnaka
Who doesn t like shopping, especially when one is on holiday? Perhaps some of you shopping can be tiring, when everyday responsibilities limit your time, but while you are on holiday, shopping can be a pleasure. However if shopping is a hobby for you, then you are lucky to be in an island where fashion is a must. Apart from the souvenirs you plan to take back home, you can actually do all the shopping you need for the season. Larnaka is the place to shop. The market can satisfy all tastes and in very affordable prices.
The two main streets to do your shopping in Larnaka is Ermou street and Zenonos Kitieos that meet at a point at one end forming an open triangle linked at places by smaller side streets and tree-shaded courtyards where you can sit and have a coffee-break at a cosy cafeteria.

The variety of shops can be easily compared to many high streets ones you find in big cities in many European countries. In fact some of the largest high street names have already been established in Larnaka. Whether your wish to buy your jewellery, clothes, leather products, watches, antiques or visit the optician you should be pleased to know that you will finish you shopping with a smile on your face.
For the book lovers, there are various bookshops to satisfy their spiritual thirst. Academic & General in Ermou street offers books, guides, magazines and newspapers in several languages, and what is more exciting is that you can even find fresh Russian newspapers to read.
In the past one coould buy fruits and vegetables from the market in the centre of the town. Nowadays the market has moved out of town. However, when you walk around Larnaca on a Saturday morning, you will see some villagers selling their own fruit and veg.


Larnaka is a town, which combines the modern and the traditional. Among all the modern shops, you can still find the old family run businesses such as watchmakers and repairers, tailors and even traditional shoemakers.
If you wish to visit more shops you can always drive to Stratigou Timaya road, which is not far away from the centre of the town. Big international clothing selling chains and other smaller shops will give you another taste of your shopping delirium.
